Today at the University of Skopje, Robert Scott Hazlett, director of the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) in Macedonia, through active interaction with the students, held a guest lecture on democracy and civic participation in building public policies in a society.
At the lecture, which began at 11:00 a.m. in the University Amphitheater, Hazlett emphasized that the key to a democracy is the independence of the legislature from the executive and that the active participation of civil society in the processes of adopting public policies is the most powerful strategy to prevent corruption in politics.
Robert Scott Hazlett, director of NDI in Macedonia, has many years of experience in the political life of the United States of America. He personally led and participated in several campaigns for presidential, gubernatorial and congressional elections.
