Today, the Rector of the University of Skopje, prof. Dr. Ace Milenkovski, in the presence of the university staff, the members of the advisory boards, as well as in the presence of his close friends and colleagues, at a formal cocktail party with an appropriate speech, commemorates the World Tourism Day.

Why September 27?

World Tourism Day has been celebrated every year on September 27 since 1980. The date marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Organization's Statute in 1970, paving the way for the establishment of UNWTO five years later.

In addition, September 27 is significant because it marks the transition between the high tourist season in the Northern Hemisphere and the beginning of the tourist season in the Southern Hemisphere.

This timing ensures that World Tourism Day draws attention to both established and emerging tourism destinations.
