In his recent statement to MIA, Prof. PhD. Lazar Nanev, President of the County Court of Kavadarci and President of the State Council for the Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency, indicated that about 25 to 30 percent of high school students in the country commit some form of peer violence, and while 14 percent confirm that they were victims, and that for a longer period of time period of time.
The recent events in neighboring Serbia with the multiple murders of classmates and school staff by a minor in his school, who himself was a victim of peer violence, is a gruesome indication of the consequences of this anti-social phenomenon on the mental health of children and young people. The role of teachers is crucial in early detection and dealing with this burning problem in schools.
Always recognizing the challenges faced by young people and teaching staff in the educational process of today's generations, University of Skopje, as a socially responsible higher education institution, tends to make its contribution to overcoming them. This is where our engagement comes from, to organize and held regular trainings on the subject of bullying for primary and secondary school teachers. In this way, we show that we care about the education and health of our children, on whom the future of our homeland rests!
