Two high delegations of the University of Skopje, led by the rector prof. PhD. Ace Milenkovski and from the president of the Senate of the University, Associate prof.PhD. Dejan Nakovski, today on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the death of the great Goce Delchev, laid fresh flowers on his grave in the church of St. Spas in Skopje.
Goce Delchev, the visionary who more than a century ago understood the world as a field for the cultural competition of nations, was born on February 4, 1872 in Kukush, and died in a fight with the Turkish army on this day in 1903 in the village of Banica. He was educated at the gymnasium in Thessaloniki and at the Military Academy in Sofia, and he was teaching in Shtip. As a member of the Central Committee of TMORO, he worked on creating a network of bases, committees and committee companies of the Organization. He participated in the Thessaloniki Congress of VMRO in 1896, and until 1901 he was the overseas representative of VMRO in Sofia.
On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of his death, in the church of St. High-ranking government delegations, the president of the state, a parliamentary delegation, as well as representatives of other important public, educational and business institutions laid flowers at his grave today.
