We celebrated the day of wine and love, February 14, at the University of Skopje with a mini celebration in the lobby of our student campus, with our students and professors.
Every year on this day, Orthodox Christians celebrate Saint Tryphon. It is believed that Saint Trifun is the guardian of vineyards and inns, but also of marital love and fidelity. On February 14, winegrowers go to their vineyards for the first time in the new calendar year to prune the vines. It is believed that on his feast day, Saint Tryphon sticks a torch into the ground, so the snow begins to melt. Many believe that spring begins on this day, and nature and love between people awaken.
May St. Trifun bring us lots of crops, love and good wine this year too!
