Today, December 17, 2022, in the amphitheater of the University of Tourism and Management, the Ninth Session of the Assembly of the Association of Geography Professors of Macedonia "Prof. PhD. Ljube Milenkovski" - Skopje. The rector of the University, prof. PhD. Ace Milenkovski, who is also the president of the Association, was re-elected to the position for another term at this Session.

In the crowded amphitheater with over 140 participants of the Session, Milenkovski welcomed the guests and especially thanked them for their long-time collaborators, the deputy in the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia Beti Stamnekoska-Trajkoska, the former adviser on geography Ivica Gievski, as well as professor Atanas Koneski, the longtime associate and personal friend of the patron of the Association, who were among those present.

In his appropriate address, the rector Milenkovski, who is also the president of the Association, referred to today's situation in education, which he assessed as "kakistratia" (from the Greek. kakós - bad, worthless, unusable), or the rule of ignorance and incompetence .

"Do we have the strength to do the education as it should be, to oppose the poor quality and the irresponsibility?", Milenkovski asked the attendees and announced that the conclusions of the Association Session, in which over 400 geography professors from all over Macedonia are members, will be submitted in writing to all relevant institutions in the country, including the Government and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Macedonia. I

n the working part of the session, the Report for the period 2018-2022 and the Work Program for 2022/2023 of the Association were adopted, and the members of the management and supervisory board were elected. Following the decision of the Assembly of the Association, gold plaques were awarded to prof. Dr. Vasil Gramatnikovski, who is also a professor emeritus at the University of Tourism and Management in Skopje, for his contribution to the development of geography, as well as Stanka Arnautova, M.Sc., for her contribution to the affirmation of the Association.

"Without the support of the University of Tourism and Management, we would not have reached this point, from 20 that we started in 2014, to numbering over 400 today," said Arnautova in the appropriate address on the occasion of the presentation of the Golden Plaque. Assoc. also addressed the guests with their inspiring lectures at the event. Dr. Blagoj Tsonev and Assoc. Dr. Gojart Kamberi, who spoke about the necessity and the benefits of connecting geography with other scientific-teaching disciplines, as well as with the scientific approach in general. The participants had the opportunity to hear the presentation on peer violence by Maria Konesca, M.Sc., graduate and licensed psychologist and psychotherapist.

The University of Tourism and Management is a long-term supporter of the Association of Geography Professors of Macedonia "Prof. PhD. Ljube Milenkovski" - Skopje, which, among other things, is accredited to organize competitions in geography for primary education at the state level.
