The Himalayas – the ultimate challenge for the mountaineer Lazo Minovski. Tomorrow, September 6, 2022, Minovski leaves for Nepal, from where he will begin the conquest of the Manaslu peak, the eighth highest in the world, at 8,163 meters above sea level in the Himalayas. After four previous failed attempts in the 1950s, the peak was first climbed by a Japanese expedition in 1956.
Manaslu will be Lazo's first eight-kilometer challenge, to climb the "mountain of the spirit" and at its peak to wave the Macedonian flag, as well as the flag of the University of Tourism and Management in Skopje. The university, a dedicated and consistent supporter of the sport, is one of Lazo's friends that make his mountaineering feat possible.
Last year, on 23.10.2021, Lazo together with Irina Dishovska unfurled the Macedonian flag on Ama Dablam, the so-called "monster peak" of the Himalayas, at 6,812 meters above sea level. But Dablam is known for its harsh climbing conditions, which claimed many lives of climbers who attempted to conquer it.
We wish Lazo a happy journey to Nepal! With light feet on the mountains, may he protect the spirit of Manaslu!
