The humanitarian convoy of the University of Tourism and Management arrived in Istanbul, Turkey yesterday. Today, in coordination with the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey, the humanitarian aid carried by the convoy was handed over to AFAD, the crisis management agency of the Turkish Ministry of Interior. This body of the Turkish government is responsible for the humanitarian aid currently arriving in Turkey from around the world to reach the survivors in the areas affected by the catastrophic earthquake that struck the country on February 6 this year, in which, according to official figures, around 41,000 people died.
The convoy of UTMS, a higher education and socially responsible institution, yesterday, on the initiative of the rector prof. PhD. Ace Milenkovski, headed to Turkey. Employees of the University, and on behalf of the entire staff and students of UTMS, wholeheartedly undertook to personally deliver the humanitarian aid provided by the University to the victims of the earthquake, which consists of food, drinks and blankets with a value of over 1, 5 million denars. They wished, with their direct presence, to express their solidarity with the people of Turkey in these difficult moments for the nation.
Rector Milenkovski also sent a letter of regret for the disaster that hit Turkey immediately after the unfortunate events on February 6 of this year. "Our people stand side by side with the Turkish people. We are ready to help in any way, as a University, but above all as people", Rector Milenkovski emphasized in his public letter addressed to the Turkish people on the day of the disaster. Yesterday and today, his team showed this commitment in action, in Istanbul, side by side with the Turkish people. The UTMS team wishes the Turkish nation a speedy recovery, expressing the hope that such a disaster will never happen to anyone again!
