University of Tourism and Management in Skopje, represented from the Chancellor Ace Milenkovski PhD, Vice Chancellor for Teaching and Learning Mijalce Gjorgievski Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Sasko Gramatnikovski Assoc. Ph.D. and Zoran Strezovski Assoc. Ph.D., attended the UNWTO Knowledge Network Symposium, held on November 16 at the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) of the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong. The presence of this Symposium for UTMS represented the unique opportunity for higher education institutions that conduct training in tourism around the world to sit down together at a table and share their experiences in promoting tourism through research, education and training. The purpose of the symposium was through dialogue and sharing of experiences to contribute to tourism development in the public and private sector.
UNWTO TedQual information seminar
UNWTO Themis Foundation is responsible for implementing the curriculum for the education and training of the World Tourism Organization. Its mission is to enable member countries of the World Tourism Organization to plan and implement educational and training policies and tools that will fully exploit the potential for employment in the tourism sector and effectively improve its competitiveness, quality and sustainability. The main goal of UNWTO TedQual system is to improve the quality and competitiveness of the institutions that perform training of personnel in tourism, but also to set voluntary standards for quality in education related to tourism, in order to increase productivity and efficiency tourism.
Otherwise this program began operation in 2001. Today they have their own curricula that have certified 78 higher education institutions from 37 countries worldwide. University of Tourism and Management in Skopje is the only institution in the country that started the process of certification curriculum UNWTO TedQual certificate.
