On the occasion of the World Tourism Day, the University of Tourism and Management - Skopje, as the only affiliate member of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) from the Republic of Macedonia, in partnership with Qatar Airways and Hotel "Marriot " Doha on September 27, 2017 marked the World day of tourism. Support of the UNWTO global campaign to raise awareness of the value of sustainable tourism for economic development -Travel, Enjoy, Respect, which affirms the importance of tourism as a catalyst for positive global change, UTMS realized through lecturing at the amphitheater to the students and the staff, the Ambassador of Republic of Croatia in the Republic of Macedonia, Her Excellency, Ms. Danijela Barisic. The topic was focused on the historical development and strategic determinations of tourism in the Republic of Macedonia. Croatia. The lecture was supported with videos about the cultural heritage and the attractiveness of the Republic of Macedonia. Croatia as a tourist destination for young people.

The celebration of this significant global event continued in the evening hours on the plateau in front of UTMS by organizing the reception of prominent representatives from the relevant institutions from the Republic of Macedonia. Macedonia, representatives from the diplomatic corps as well as representatives from the business sector. The event was opened by the Rector of the University of Tourism and Management - Skopje, Prof Ace Milenkovski PhD, who in his speech emphasized the global significance of the tourism industry pointing to the significance of the human factor in generating changes for a better future. In this regard, the Rector stressed that tourism is important for global economic development, social strengthening of communities by opening new jobs, preserving the environment and tackling climate change, respecting diversity, identity, culture and peace as the basic precondition for development and progress globally. The ambassador of the Republic of Slovakia in the Republic of Macedonia, His Excellency, Mr. Martin Bezak, who greatly thanked to the Rector and the employees of UTMS for the long-term cooperation. And in gratitude to the library of UTMS gave encyclopedias from the Republic of Slovakia.

On the occasion of the World Tourism Day, the commercial director of Qatar Airways Skopje, at the same time, alumni of UTMS, awarded the best students of UTMS four airline tickets Skopje-Doha, and Hotel "Marriott" Doha gave them four weekend nights.

The event continued with the spectacular performance of the mega musical star Vlado Janevski and his band. The audience enjoy in the unforgettable hits of the unique macedonian man vocal.
