About library

The library of University of Skopje is located on the second floor and is one of the most representative and modern rooms of the university building.

The creation and equipping of the university library is associated with the very beginnings of the Faculty of Tourism in Skopje in 2006, with the modest library fund and the first works of the Faculty's Publishing Center.

In the relatively short period of its existence and with the fulfillment of the legal regulations, the Faculty of Tourism grew into a University, which changed the concept of functioning of a modern university library as an intellectual support for all study programs and activities that are carried out within the University.

The library is a center, a medium and a vital force in the functioning and strengthening of our higher education institution. The space itself is a place where students and employees meet, socialize, learn, research and inform, a place where basic support is received in order to acquire additional quality knowledge, skills and competencies.

The term library here is not understood only as a synonym for books, on the contrary, there is a database of photos, video materials, magazines, catalogs, digital records and free access to Internet content.

In addition to the publications issued by the University Publishing Center, the library abounds with a significant number of library items from domestic and foreign authors from the relevant fields. The university library has over 14,200 library units, of which more than 6,532 titles are monographic and serial publications, scientific and professional theses (master's, doctoral and specialist theses), a significant number of audio and video recordings, albums and other book and non-book material. This number is constantly increasing in accordance with the annual work programs of the library, the vision and the mission of the University.

Through the membership of the University of Skopje in the World Tourism Organization within the framework of the United Nations, all interested stakeholders in the teaching and extracurricular activities of the University have the opportunity to use this library as well as electronic editions of other libraries.

Following world trends has inevitably imposed a need for electronic librarianship, so an integral part of the university library is the E-library, where all interested subjects can obtain the necessary information and literature in electronic form. That undoubtedly means an advantage and progress in the educational process at all levels.

The e-library has 2,260 titles, but the continuity in enrichment with new materials certainly applies to the electronic version of the library, which will continue to receive new contents and follow the latest achievements in modern librarianship.

A guide for library users

For easier accessibility to library units, an electronic catalog (database) is used, which contains monographic and serial publications. The search in the electronic catalog is carried out in the upper right corner by applying several options, that is, by searching by title, author and ISBN number, in Cyrillic and Latin letters.

Searching for master's data is done in the same way by searching by title, author, year of defense or number.

The use of the library material is carried out in a manner determined by the Regulations for the operation of the library, inside and outside the premises of the library.

The use of the e-library is carried out in accordance with the Study Agreement, the Regulations and the Procedure for using the library, inside and outside the library premises.

The user of the library can receive general information about:

  • the status and functions of the library,
  • the types of services provided by the library,
  • resources available to the library,
  • the conditions according to which the library material is used,
  • other assistance in accordance with the Library's Work Regulations.

In the reading room of the library, users are provided with free access to the Internet at 8 equipped workstations. When using the computer equipment, the user must comply with the prescribed rules according to the Regulations and Study Agreements.
