The Center for Institutional Development (CIRa) awarded a special award to the University of Tourism and Management Skopje as an institution for the development of social responsibility.
On July 11, 2011, at the Aleksandar Palace hotel, a ceremony was held for awarding the awards and recognitions of institutions, business sector and individuals for philanthropy and social responsibility for 2010. The Center for Institutional Development, as one of its regular activities, monitors the institutions and individuals in their contribution to the field of social responsibility and philanthropy, in relation to values such as solidarity, ethics and humanity. The CIR project refers to three general categories: Social Responsibility, Individuals - Philanthropists and Best Philanthropic Practices.
Within the category of Social Responsibility, the University of Tourism and Management Skopje is awarded as the only University that received this award. In the explanation of the CIR decision, at the Ceremony, it was emphasized that UTMS is the only educational institution in Macedonia that has a textbook on social responsibility, as well as because of the functioning of the Faculty for entrepreneurial business and the training of future entrepreneurs. On behalf of UTMS, the prize was received by Aleksandra Stoilkovska, Dean of the Faculty of Entrepreneurial Business, who conveyed the appreciation for this recognition by Rector Ace Milenkovski and the employees of the University, stressing that it would be an incentive for all faculties of UTMS to continue their work on raising the level of social responsibility, but also a model for other universities in Macedonia to follow this example.
Among the awards this year, according to the different categories, were Makpetrol, Komercijalna Banka, VIP and ONE.
Otherwise, the Center for Institutional Development is an NGO for civil society support, established in September 2003 by local activists of the USAID Democratic Network Program, and it has the support of the European Union Mission in Macedonia. So far, it has been granted grants for about 300 non-governmental organizations and financial assistance for 374 projects in Macedonia.
